FolderMagic

If you are a constant Windows user, you surely have noticed that you cannot change and customize the way folders look and you are only able to change the icons of shortcuts. There are many users who would like to be able to change the aspect of folders, so that they can easily and quickly spot specific ones. Fortunately, this is now possible with the help of FolderMagic.

This Windows application allows you to easily change the color of any Windows folder and also add a custom icon to it, in the same manner as changing the icon of a shortcut. After the program has been installed and launched, the user will be presented with a graphical and intuitive interface. The first step into changing the aspect of a folder is to select it from the tree menu displayed in the left part of the interface.

The program offers the possibility of choosing from two different folder styles and also choose a custom color for each of them. When choosing a color and setting up a folder style, this modification will be automatically recorded and the folder's aspect will be immediately changed, without having to restart the computer. Besides changing the color of a folder, FolderMagic also allows you to choose a custom icon for each folder. Thus, you will be able to spot specific folders more easily and quickly. There are some icons already available in the program's interface but more can be imported from any .ICO file. Unfortunately, the program cannot extract icons from EXE or DLL files.
